Outlook: Rain may interfere with some of your holiday weekend plans

Temperature outlook for Friday, May 24th

Memorial Day weekend is here! Of course, Memorial Day is a time to remember those men and women who died to preserve our freedoms. Many also head out of town to the cabin or a campground to enjoy some rest and relaxation.

Friday will be cloudy with scattered showers. Less than a quarter inch of rain is expected in west central Wisconsin, while more than a half inch is possible in southern Wisconsin. Highs will be in the 60s. Clouds will gradually decrease on Friday night with lows in the 50s.

This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, will be fantastic! The sky will be mostly sunny on Saturday with highs between 75 and 80 degrees. Sunday will be sunny with highs in the middle 70s. Lows will be near 50 degrees. It will not be humid, and the wind will not be a problem either.

Memorial Day now appears wet. A surface low will develop and pass over the Midwest, which will produce widespread rain in the Eau Claire area and much of the region between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. We might get lucky, but generally, I would plan on some rain for parades or ceremonies at cemeteries. More than a half inch of rain is possible.

The rain is inconvenient, but it shouldn’t deter you from participating in a Memorial Day activity. That’s why someone long ago invented the umbrella.
