Appleton (WQOW) — The Eau Claire North baseball program will leave Fox Cities Stadium with a new gold ball for the school’s trophy case.

The Huskies defeated Sun Prairie 5-4 in the WIAA Division 1 state championship game on Thursday to capture the state crown.

Eau Claire North was down 4-2 in the sixth inning when WBCA State Player of the Year, Sam Stange, hit a three-run home run to give the Huskies the lead for good.

It is the program’s second-ever baseball state championship and the first since 2011.
