Soo Line Locomotive sold back to Duluth museum

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The Eau Claire City Council voted on Tuesday night to sell the historic Soo Line Locomotive to a museum in Duluth, just a year after buying it from the same museum.

The city had sought to return the locomotive to bring it back to Eau Claire and get it into working order, but the city said the costs were too high.

The locomotive has been at the Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth for more than a decade.

The resolution of sale expresses hope the museum can get the locomotive running on the rails again.

The price of the sale was $8, twice as much as it went for last year.
