Person killed in Eau Claire house fire; police investigating

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Eau Claire police say a person was killed in a house fire overnight.

Officers say at 4:12 a.m. police and fire were called to a fire in the 600 block of Congress Street.

While on their way to the fire, police learned people were inside the house. Officers arrived six minutes later and learned one person was still inside.

Officers and firefighters found that person, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not said whether the fire is suspicious, but they are still on scene investigating and say they will be for some time.
