Eau Claire (WQOW) – Recent rain has caused the Chippewa River to rise in the Eau Claire area.

Currently, the Chippewa River is about 10 feet below flood stage, but through the weekend city officials expect the river to crest a 765 feet.

That would flood the lowest lying areas of the Chippewa River Trail.

As a precaution, the Chippewa River Trail behind the UW-Eau Claire Haas Fine Arts Center and Hobbs Boat Landing will be closed on Sunday and remain closed until the river recedes.
