Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man accused of robbing a tobacco store at gunpoint will spend time behind bars.

Police said Michael Heil showed a gun and robbed the Eau Claire Tobacco Shop on Gateway Drive in May. He was eventually arrested on Eau Claire’s northwest side with a BB gun and what police call a large amount of money in the car.

In June, he pleaded no contest to a reduced robbery charge as part of a plea deal.

Judge Emily Long sentenced him to two years behind bars followed by three years of extended supervision. He was given credit for 123 days in jail awaiting the conclusion of the case.

Heil must also undergo a mental health assessment, have no contact with the tobacco shop and pay more than $2,000 in restitution.
