Eau Claire man pleads guilty to stabbing roommate’s dog

Eau Claire County (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man accused of stabbing his roommate’s dog pleaded guilty on Thursday.

William Geiger pleaded guilty to mistreatment of animals in Eau Claire County Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Geiger told police his roommate’s dog bit him after Geiger kicked it.

Geiger said he then grabbed a knife and stabbed the dog in the throat.

The dog had to be put down to end its suffering.

Geiger will be sentenced in November. He faces a maximum penalty of 3 1/2 years in prison.

A daily precipitation record was set in Eau Claire as more than an inch and a half of rain fell at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport. The low pressure system that caused this is only halfway through the Chippewa Valley, and tomorrow it will bring strong wind and lighter rain.
