WQOW nominated for 3 regional Emmy awards

Chicago (WQOW) – WQOW News 18 is being recognized for excellence in broadcasting.

WQOW has been nominated for three regional Emmy awards – best newscast, best documentary and best news producer.

For best newscast, News 18 is recognized for our 10 p.m. report one month after Jayme Closs was kidnapped. In this newscast we sat down for a one-on-one interview with Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, an interview with Jayme’s aunt Jennifer Smith and we spoke with community members about the mystery and what they could do to help. Watch it here.

For best documentary, News 18 is recognized for our meth special report titled “Meth: Crisis in our Community.” The half-hour special was dedicated to the meth epidemic and the impact it has on our community. Watch it here.

And last but certainly not least, WQOW News Director Kristen Shill is nominated for best news producer. Prior to taking over as news director earlier in the year, Shill was the executive producer and assistant news director at News 18.
