Chippewa County (WQOW) – For the second time in less than a month, a rabid bat was found in Chippewa County.

This is the fourth bat found with the virus in the Chippewa Valley since early August.

This rabid bat was found on September 5 on the walking path near McIntyre Road and Park Road in Cornell, according to the Chippewa County Department of Public Health.

Health officials say the bat was found on the edge of the walking path and it tried to bite a dog. The owner was able to get the dog away safely.
