Make-A-Wish Foundation gives Fall Creek girl a Disney vacation

Fall Creek (WQOW) – One local little girl got a big surprise Thursday: she found out the Make-A-Wish Foundation is making her dream come true.

Five-year-old Olivia Schmidt from Fall Creek was granted her wish of a trip to Disney World for herself and her family.

Olivia suffers from two rare diseases that cause congenital anomalies, and has had more than 20 surgeries in her lifetime. However, she still loves dressing up and everything about being a princess.

Olivia’s mom Penny Schmidt says the family trip will be a great chance for Olivia to make some positive memories. “Going somewhere is always a bad thing for Olivia. It’s always a surgery or a doctor’s appointment,” said Penny. “To actually go somewhere and there’s going to be no pricks, no pokes, I mean this is actually going to be fun for her, and for the whole family. So it means everything to us.”

Olivia and her siblings Kira and Aiden also got gifts and a pizza party Thursday from Make-A-Wish to celebrate the good news.
