Eau Claire (WQOW) – Officials at Hope Gospel Mission’s soon-to-be women and infant center was vandalized overnight causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Brett Geboy, community relations director for Hope Gospel Mission, told News 18 a neighbor heard a noise and called police around 2 a.m. Friday.

When police showed up they found extensive damage to the fence and damage to equipment.

Geboy said they will get an exact dollar amount next week, but they estimate $3,000-$4,000 in damage.

Geboy said they will plan to open the facility in the fall but after thousands of hours of volunteer labor it is unfortunate they have to divert resources to fix the damage.

Police are looking for information and suspects but have not been able to identify anyone yet.
