Eau Claire County (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man is being held on a $10,000 bond after allegedly threatening to shoot up the Menards Distribution Center.

Kevin Pinkham was charged on Tuesday with making a terrorist threat and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, on August 15, Pinkham told a Menards employee he was going to shoot up the distribution center.

According to that employee, Pinkham said he didn’t want to shoot people more than once, adding, “I buy the good stuff and already have the ammo.”

The employee told police Pinkham specifically singled out a manager at Menards. The manager said he feared for his life. He told police he kept a loaded rifle next to him in bed that night and his wife propped chairs against the door in their home.

In addition, a number of employees told police they were afraid to go to work the next day.

He also allegedly made several references to killing people while in the military. Police said records from the Army show he was only enlisted for a few months and never deployed overseas.

Pinkham denied making the threat but did confirm he sent a text to his girlfriend that said he was going to kill everyone. He said it was a joke.

A search of Pinkham’s home and car turned up seven guns, a large cache of ammunition as well as two journals that appeared to have writing about Menards.

The guns included five rifles and two 9 mm pistols. The ammunition consisted of 30-06 rifle shells, 9 mm ammo, .22 ammo, 5.56 ammo and at least 21 magazines, according to the complaint.

If Pinkham posts his $10,000 cash bond, he is ordered not to possess weapons or ammunition or contact any Menards employees or locations.

Pinkham made his initial appearance in court on Tuesday. He is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing next Tuesday.
