Wisconsin (WQOW) – While the dairy industry continues to struggle here in Wisconsin, it has a large impact on Wisconsin’s economy, according to a new report.

Research directed by the University of Wisconsin is conducted every five years.

In 2017, agriculture in Wisconsin contributed $104 billion to the state’s economy, up more than $16 billion from 2012.

The dairy industry alone generated more than $45 billion in 2017, which is 16% of the state’s total revenue. The agriculture industry also created nearly 438,000 jobs in 2017, up 24,000 in five years.

The bulk of the growth in the industry during that time was in the food processing industry.
