Eau Claire (WQOW)- Life lessons aren’t always taught by wise men, sometimes it’s younger generations that have to remind us to be compassionate and take care of our community.

“People don’t really feel nice and good here, so I though just making them feel a little more happy would just be nice,” said Piper Munion.

“Our patients come here every day, sometimes for three to five hours for an infusion,” said Angela Quick, the director at Prevea Cancer Center at HSHS Sacred Heart.

Piper Munion, 10, wanted to make sure the patients at Prevea Cancer Center at HSHS Sacred Heart know there is someone that cares about them.

“Probably no one has ever heard of a 10-year-old donating stuff for a wonderful hospital, but if other people did that it would make the world a better place,” said Munion.

As part of Munion’s 4-H community service, she decided to donate snacks and games to those who are going through the challenges of cancer.

“It makes me feel really good because people at the cancer center, they come because they’re sick or ill, so we want to make their families feel comfortable,” said Munion.

She’s offering patients the fuel, to help in their recovery

“I think that patients are very moved by the fact that someone is trying to make their stay here easier,” said Quick.

“It’s important to do it because when you’re nice to other people in the community then when you just keep being nice you grow to be a really warm-hearted person,” Munion said.

“I think that Piper, her generation they’re going to make a huge difference in this world,” said Quick.

Munion wants to continue her community service through 4-H and hopes it encourages kids her age to give back in a meaningful way.
