Eau Claire Transit waives fare because of dangerous heat

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Because of the Excessive Heat Warning, the Eau Claire Transit is waiving fare requirements for passengers on Friday.

“Passengers may pay a fare or make a donation using the farebox, but we want to help people stay cool and safe,” said Transit Manager Tom Wagener. “We’re happy to provide an air conditioned ride for anyone who needs it today, regardless of their ability to pay.”

All 22 buses on the fleet are accessible to those who struggle to get around. There are no steps to negotiate.
