Man charged after overdose reaches plea deal with Eau Claire Co. prosecutors

Eau Claire County (WQOW) — An Eau Claire man who was arrested following an overdose has reached a plea deal with Eau Claire County prosecutors.

On December 15, Eau Claire Police officers were called to a home on Ponoma Drive on a report that Neftali Acosta was overdosing on drugs. While trying to determine what drugs he took, an officer found a cooler full of packaged marijuana.

Police obtained a search warrant and went back to the home, where they found 250 grams of packaged marijuana, 12 grams of packaged cocaine and a ledger outlining drug deals.

Acosta pleaded no contest to possession with intent to deliver cocaine and neglecting a child on Friday. The other charges against him were read-in and dismissed. Judge Emily Long sentenced him to three years of probation with a 120 day jail term stayed pending further order from the court.
