Independence man gets probation for stealing thousands of dollars worth of power tools

Eau Claire (WQOW) – A man accused of stealing thousands of dollars in power tools received probation as part of a plea deal.

Police said Cole Halvorson of Independence had roughly $10,000 in stolen power tools and equipment in his storage locker in Lake Hallie.

On Wednesday, he pleaded no contest to a variety of charges – including theft, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

Judge Sarah Harless sentenced him to three years of probation. He is also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety.
