LAKE DELTON (WKOW) — Authorities are looking for someone who they say tried to abduct a 2-year-old from a home in Lake Delton last Saturday.

Lake Delton police say shortly after 3 a.m. officers were called to a home in the Deer Run subdivision for a possible prowler outside.

They say when officers arrived at the home they learned the parents were woken by a noise coming from the child’s bedroom. When they went to look outside, they found the child alone, outside of the home at the base of the window.

Police say evidence at the scene suggests that a person entered the home through the child’s bedroom window and likely brought the child outside the window and then ran away. The child was not hurt and reunited with the parents before officers arrived, according to police.

The family thought the suspect was someone they know, but police say after an extensive investigation they eliminated that person as a possible suspect.

Police say right now they do not have any additional suspect information. Police are working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Lab to examine physical evidence from the scene.

Anyone with information about this is asked to contact police at 608-254-7571, dispatch center at 608-254-8331, or Sauk County Crimestoppers at 888-847-7285.
