Eau Claire (WQOW) – The search continues for missing teen Panio Hessel, who went into the Chippewa River weeks ago. Wednesday night, family and friends gathered for a vigil in his honor.

As you know the teen was last seen in the river on April 23rd. Authorities have been searching ever since, but still haven’t found him.

St. Olaf Parish in Eau Claire, held a visitation hour followed by a memorial mass for the 17-year-old. Father James Kurzynski spoke on behalf of the family.

“Thank you for your support to Will. Thank you for the support to the Hessel family, and continue your prayers for both him and the young man that went missing in November,” Fr. Kurzynski said.

Fr. Kurzynski said the family won’t truly be able to find closure until Panio Hessel is found.
