Altoona (WQOW) – An adult living facility in Altoona has found a new way to bring a smile to its residents’ faces.

Grace Lutheran Communities – River Pines Interim CEO Randy Bestul used grant funding to buy a trishaw for the residents to enjoy.

A trishaw is a tricycle and a rickshaw combined.

The model even has a motor to assist with inclines.

“I had a wonderful bike ride,” said resident Mary Dominski. “I was very impressed by it’s comfort and the vision is great from all sides and up into the sky. I thought it would be tunnel vision but it wasn’t, it’s really great.”

The purchase is part of Grace Lutheran’s celebration of National Nursing Home Week. It is operated by volunteers.
