Eau Claire (WQOW) – Even after a snowstorm, locals were able to find a beach party in Eau Claire Monday.

Every Monday until the dome comes down in mid-April, kids are invited to play in the sand, build sandcastles and splash in the dome’s foot-washing station at Wagner’s Lanes.

Staff says it is a great way to get kids out of the inclement weather and enjoy the beach-like atmosphere.

“Just seeing the kids have fun, and it’s a good way for our volleyball courts to get used when we’re not using them, and it’s good for kids,” said Wagner’s Marketing and Sales Director Paul Wilkes. “We have two kids, so they love to come and just be able to play and get that summer feeling during the winter.”

During the holidays, the dome plays host to Santa and even the Easter Bunny. Wilkes said anywhere from 10 to 100 kids attend depending on if school is in session.

The beach sessions run Monday mornings from 9 to 11. It costs $5 per child.

Weather Outlook: Gloomy weather returns

Today was the warmest day of the month with high temperatures in the low to mid 40s across western Wisconsin. The only other days this month in the 40s were this past Saturday and Sunday. While temperatures will be in the upper 30s near 40 again tomorrow afternoon, it won’t be as nice of a day.
