ST. CROIX COUNTY (WQOW) – A crash on Friday night left three drivers pronounced dead at the scene, according to St. Croix County officials.
A press release from Sheriff Scott L. Knudson states that at 7:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a traffic crash at the intersection of STH 64 and CTH T in Stanton Township.
A motorcyclist was travelling westbound on STH 64 when it struck a car traveling north on CTH T that had already entered the intersection. Traffic travelling on CTH T has a stop sign, but officials had received a call moments before the crash stating that the sign had been knocked down.
The motorcyclist, driver of the vehicle and passenger in the vehicle were all pronounced dead at the scene. Both driver and passenger in the vehicle were wearing seat belts; the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Lincoln passenger car was identified as Thomas John Plasch, age 55, from Oakdale, MN. The passenger in the same car has been identified as Miriam Rosal Espinosa, age 46, also from Oakdale, MN. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Cody Lynn Cook-Terhurne, age 34, from Somerset, WI.
Officials say they are still continuing to investigate the crash and verify the stop sign report, as well as any other factors that may have played a role in the accident.
