Clean Sweep event to accept hazardous waste on Saturday in Eau Claire

If you're looking to throw out some hazardous materials, you'll have one more opportunity provided by the county this weekend.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - If you're looking to throw out some hazardous materials, you'll have one more opportunity provided by the county this weekend.

Eau Claire County is partnering is partnering with WRR Environmental to host the third and final Clean Sweep event of 2024.

During this event, residents will be able to properly dispose of household hazardous waste.

Free disposal includes items such as:

  • oil-based paints
  • thinners/strippers
  • stains/varnish
  • corrosives
  • solvents
  • cleaners/polishes
  • oil fuel
  • used oil and filters
  • antifreeze
  • aerosol cans
  • pesticides/fertilizers

Items you can get rid of for a fee include:

  • Latex paint ($4/gallon)
  • Light bulbs (by type)
  • 20 lb. and 1 lb. propane cylinders (no rust!)

County leaders said while they aim to take most products during the event, WRR reserves the right to not accept products based on chemical specifications.  For specific product questions, call 715-852-1617.

Clean Sweep takes place on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 5200 Ryder Road in Eau Claire.
