We did it! For the first time in 62 days we hit 40 degrees in Eau Claire. It occurred at 3 am as southerly winds, cloud cover, and the warm front passed.
Like the title suggests, it won't last. We will get some sunshine early this morning as the clouds clear behind said warm front. Temperatures fell into the lower 30s early on, but with the right amount of sunshine and winds from the west at to 15 mph, we might hit 40 again.
But, another wave is aiming towards Wisconsin that may bring some snow to parts of the Chippewa Valley Tuesday night.
Snowfall will be light across Eau Claire and wont begin until late evening. A light wintry mix or even some light drizzle will be possible around dinner, but otherwise the best chance for light snow will be towards Wednesday morning.
Highway 8 and northern Wisconsin could see anywhere from a trace to 2 inches of snow as this waves scoots by. Once it passes, winds turn northerly and bring us slightly cooler air for the rest of the week.
Highs get stuck in the mid to low 30s the rest of the week and there are a few other small waves to deal with towards the weekend. Our quick spring-like warm up sits closer to average for the remainder of February.
