EAU CLAIRE (WQOW)- Congressman Ron Kind was one of the representatives who voted in favor of President Trump's impeachment, claiming that the President is still "a clear and present danger to the American people."
Ten Republicans also voted to impeach the president, and Kind says after many conversations over the last few days, he believes an overwhelming majority of the house would have voted in favor of impeachment if it were a secret vote.
Kind adds the recent events at the Capitol will leave a lasting impact on the president's legacy.
"As we enter the final week of the Trump presidency, I was just thinking about what his legacy will be," Kind said. "A Capitol under siege in the United States is one of those legacies. He's getting his goal of a big beautiful wall, but unfortunately, that wall is surrounding the United States Capitol."
Kind went on to say the president's comments denying responsibility for the siege did not help his case and the president "learned nothing" from last week's events.
With one week left until President-elect Joe Biden takes office, Kind hopes that a new era of reconciliation and healing is ahead.
