EAU CLAIRE COUNTY (WQOW) - A Fall Creek woman police say is responsible for killing a man in a crash in September is now facing a homicide charge.
The crash happened in the 7000 block of Highway 12 in the town of Lincoln on Sept. 10, 2020.
According to the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office, Nancy Haldeman, 64, was driving a Trailblazer east on Highway 12 when she went to pass a slower vehicle in front of her and hit a 49-year-old man's Suburban traveling in the opposite direction.
Witnesses say it was very foggy at the time of the crash. In fact, the driver who Haldeman was allegedly trying to pass said he had a "death grip" on the steering wheel because it was so foggy.
The 49-year-old man was killed in the crash.
Haldeman was hospitalized.
She is charged with one count of homicide by negligent use of a vehicle; a charge that comes with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
She will make her initial appearance in Eau Claire County Court on Feb. 3.
