Back to the mid-80's we go. After reaching 86 in Eau Claire Tuesday, we'll see another shot at the mid 80's Wednesday through Friday. The average high temperature for Eau Claire is 81 degrees, but after Friday it doesn't look like we'll be seeing that again through the extended forecast.
The Climate Prediction Center has most of the central and eastern U.S. in a region of cooler than average temperatures through the third week of August. Mainly due to our upper level pattern bringing cooler air down from Canada.
Before we worry about the cooler temperatures we have to get past the muggy weather expected the next few days. Dew points start inching into the 60's through Friday with areas seeing tropical dew points close to 70 for Saturday.
A few different systems will lead to the chances for storms with those muggy dew points, but most of the rainfall looks unimpressive. There is also a risk for severe thunderstorms, but those threats stay west of Wisconsin until Friday when we may see a low end chance for a few strong storms.
Overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning a system will bring a few weaker, scattered thunderstorms mainly west of Eau Claire. We can't rule out one or two reaching the Eau Claire area through mid-morning, but amounts won't be impressive. All of this will keep us mostly cloudy through the end of the week.
