Mondovi (WQOW) - Who doesn't love a good burger? Now, enjoying that summer-time favorite can help provide care packages for some of Chippewa Valley's most vulnerable.

The Community Table, along with Together Farms, is hosting "Burgers and Backpacks," a fundraiser for the homeless community this weekend.

For every burger purchased at the event, Together Farms will donate $1 to the non-profit.

The money will go to filling backpacks with personal hygiene products, medical lock-bags and everyday essentials to be distributed to those in need.

Group Health Cooperative Eau Claire will also be matching every dollar donated by Together Farm.

It's a partnership The Community Table said they've been looking forward to for quite some time.

"We were looking for a fundraiser with them, originally for something else, and this just came up," said TJ Atkins, executive director for The Community Table. "They were going to do a micro fundraiser for us, but it's turned in to a full-blown fundraiser. It's our first since this whole COVID thing has happened, so we're super excited. "

The event is running from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, July 17, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Together Farms in Mondovi.
