WI sees another record of new positive COVID-19 cases but percent positive drops

Madison (WQOW) - The Badger State set a record for new positive cases of COVID-19 for the fourth time in just six days on Tuesday but the number of tests also increased which actually dropped the state's percent positive.

On Tuesday, 964 new positive test results came back increasing the state's total number of positive cases to 37,906 since the pandemic started. Of those, 29,275 (77.2%) have recovered.

Despite the new record number of cases, testing was at its second-highest level on Tuesday with 14,680 total test results coming back. That put the day's positive rate at 6.6%, the lowest it has been Thursday, July 9, when it was at 5.7%.

In Eau Claire County, 346 people have tested positive since the pandemic's beginning. That is six more than Monday. Of those 346 people, 287 have recovered.

In Chippewa County, 141 people have tested positive. The number is 57 in Dunn County.
