Girl Scouts to improve Erickson Park

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - Erickson Park will soon be the home of some new animal habitats, all thanks to one local girl scout troop.

Eight girls from troop 3502 are working on their silver award.
For their award project, the girls are dividing into two separate groups: one will tackle invasive species, and the other will be planting various flowers and plants to attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects.

The troop's leader said earning this award will be a big achievement, especially because most of the girls have been scouts for years.

"These girls are seventh graders, they just completed their seventh year so they'll be going into seventh grade," Stephanie Samson said. "Most of them have been girl scouts since they were in kindergarten."

Samson said they hope to begin working on the project by late summer or early fall and wrap up shortly after that.
