Menomonie (WQOW) - The green flag won't fly on the Red Cedar Speedway this year.
The track announced Wednesday afternoon that the remainder of its 2020 season has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
Since the facility is publicly-owned, Dunn County officials made the decision to keep the gates closed.
The Speedway said it is negotiating a new lease agreement with the county, and plans to announce its 2021 plans on August 1. It also said its Wissota sanctioning will remain in place.
While Red Cedar Speedway has been closed, other tracks in the region have offered discounted tickets to Dunn County residents. Gondik Law Speedway in Superior will host "Red Cedar Speedway Night" on Friday.
