Heat Exhaustion vs Heat Stroke

As if it wasn't already hot enough, mother nature is still turning the dial up. What may be the hottest few days in this long stretch of summer weather could lead to dangerous heat illness. Do you know the signs?

First, high temperatures will again climb towards and even exceed 90 degrees Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Dew points will not waiver from the upper 60's to low 70's. That means heat indices could reach 95º or higher. This draws concern for heat illness.

The differences between heat exhaustion and heat stroke are shown below. The best thing you can do for you and your family is to stay hydrated, take regular breaks in the A/C, and make sure you know the signs and what to do if someone starts getting heat sickness. Heat is America's number 1 weather related killer so this is important to know.

Of course, as we've seen the past several days, isolated thunderstorms are possible throughout the day. As noted previously, the atmosphere heats itself out causing little storms to bubble up. These will be possible across the valley again Thursday, but better chances come to the east of Eau Claire.

Heading into the holiday weekend it's really the same story. Hot, humid, and perfect for the lake life or other Independence Day celebrations!
