Eau Claire (WQOW)- A local car dealership is helping Feed My People Food Bank ensure Chippewa Valley kids don't go hungry this summer.

Markquart Motors is donating $56,100 to the food bank to fund their weekend kids meal program throughout the summer. The program helps support local families who are struggling financially by providing meals to children who need them. The donation funds enough meals to feed over 2,100 children every week for the entire summer.

"We're very grateful to them for this large donation," said Nancy Renkes, executive director at Feed My People Food Bank. "Families right now have so many issues that they're trying to deal with and one that really came to light for our team here at Feed My People was the fact that there were going to be kiddos that didn't have food on the weekends this summer."

Food bank officials said that summer is often a time where families struggle to provide meals for children, because they are not able to eat school lunches.
