Eau Claire (WQOW) - You may have noticed a gigantic tarp covering a water tower on Eau Claire's south side.  That's because it's getting a fresh face.

The water tower, near the Oakwood Mall, is getting a paint job inside and out.

The tarp is to prevent sand used in sand-blasting from getting into the neighborhood, and the same for paint spray.

City officials say the tower will no longer be light blue. They're going with off-white this time and the new city of Eau Claire logo will be featured on the tower.

The cost of the paint job is more than $548,000. They expect to be done by early August.

There are six water towers throughout the city. This is the only one being painted this year.
