Clark County (WQOW) - Another person has died from COVID-19 in Clark County but this time it was a person without other health issues, says the health department.

According to the Clark County Health Department, the person who died was in their 40s and had no known underlying medical conditions.

That means this person was the first in the county to die without other medical issues, according to Clark County Emergency Management.

“Our hearts continue to go out to the grieving families and community members affected by COVID-19,” said Brittany Mews, Clark County health officer. “We would like to extend our deepest condolences to everyone impacted past and present."

So far, 80 people have contracted COVID-19 in Clark County. Sixteen of those remain active cases.

Clark County has the 7th highest COVID-19 case fatality percentage in the state (8.7%). The only counties with a higher percentage all have fewer than 20 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. That means 8.7% of people who have contracted the virus in the county have died.
