Eau Claire (WQOW) - 100 local children will start the next school year on the right foot thanks to a local non-profit, but they need the community's help.

Helping Hands for Our Children is holding its annual 'Operation Backpack' drive.

The program gives backpacks to local kids in need, filled with school supplies, along with a week's worth of clothes, socks and a new pair of shoes.

Helping Hands' executive director Shauna Hanson said even though there's still some uncertainty about what school will look like this fall, they still want to make sure kids have the resources they need to succeed.

Donations can be dropped off at their distribution center in Eau Claire at 930 Gallaway St., #25. They also have an Amazon Wishlist for those who would like to donate digitally.
