Warm. Humid. Stormy. But, not a washout.
Memorial Day weekend is often known as the "unofficial start to summer" and the weather will mirror that phrase through the holiday itself.
It starts with a cloud Friday. Temperatures will try to hit Eau Claire's average of 72 with hopes of sunshine at times through the afternoon. A few light patches of drizzle may be possible early, but otherwise Friday will be dry.
Dew points will start to climb into the weekend. Friday, dew points will stay in the mid 50's before a surge of moisture pushes them into the mid 60's for Saturday. With highs stuck in the mid 70's it will feel very thick. We'll keep the dew points going into the upper 60's for Memorial Day.
This and a passing warm front will likely spawn thunderstorms in the afternoon Saturday. We'll see the chance for a few strong, but sub-severe thunderstorms that last into the early evening. A few more isolated storms are likely before a break through Sunday morning.
Sunday will be warm with highs near 80 and dew points near 60. It will feel hot and sticky and another wave of thunderstorms is likely through the afternoon/evening.
These will likely last through Memorial Day. Most of the rain and thunderstorms will push through in the morning before a short break and redevelopment into the evening. Highs will again be near 80 with dew points in the mid 60's.
