Eau Claire (WQOW) - The bridge lights at Phoenix Park will turn blue and gold Thursday night to honor the class of 2020.
Many students across the nation, and right here in the Chippewa Valley, did not get to end their senior year the way they hoped, but Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI) and the Rotary Club of Eau Claire still want to celebrate their accomplishments.
Thursday night's colors will honor the 2020 graduates of UW-Eau Claire.
DECI Communications and Promotion Coordinator Dustin Olson said people normally pay to illuminate all 170 lights, but this gesture is on the house.
"It feels good to be able to do something," said Olson. "There's been a lot of changes that have happened in this last month or two and we're happy to be able to do something positive and put that out there in the community in the midst of so much negative."
The lights will change to a different color almost every night from May 21 to May 30 to honor a different school in the area.
According to the Downtown Eau Claire Inc's website here is when you can see your school's colors:
May 22: UWEC
May 23: All local high school colors
May 26: Altoona HS, Eleva-Strum HS and CVTC
