Altoona (WQOW) - After being tagged on social media to be a part of the 100 Gallon Milk Challenge, an Altoona athletics company is providing some extra dairy in students' diets.
During the Altoona School District's grab and go meals on Wednesday, BIG Athletics was giving away coupons for a free gallon of milk.
They were originally challenged to give away 100 gallons, but they decided to donate coupons for 150 gallons.
Account executive Patrick Boughton said BIG Athletics has a long-standing relationship with the school district, providing them with uniforms, t-shirts, and equipment.
Boughton added this event will not only help feed families, but it will also give dairy farmers some relief.
"I grew up on a farm myself so anytime we can help the community plus we can help the farmers out a little bit," Boughton said. "Farmers right now are getting the short end of the stick themselves, so being able to help them out by getting extra milk off the shelves is always a benefit as well."
BIG Athletics was able to give away all 150 coupons in less than two hours. Families can redeem their coupons at any Kwik Trip.
On Twitter, Boughton tagged CCF Bank and WNB Financial in Altoona to rise to the challenge next.
