Eau Claire (WQOW) - With businesses and restaurants slowly starting to open back up, one charitable organization has decided to take a different approach and is limiting its services even more.
The Community Table of Eau Claire, which provides free meals to those in need every day of the year, will now offer to-go meals only.
To continue to keep everyone safe, an on-site coordinator will be wearing a mask and a pair of gloves handing patrons their to-go meals at the front door while safely standing behind a protective shield
Executive director TJ Atkins told News 18 that safety is the number one priority at The Community Table.
"I just don't see how feasible we can do that and how sustainable it would be if we were to just roll it out. So, I want to be very thought-provoking and I want to make sure that we do it in a safe manner for everybody that enters as well as staff and volunteers when they're here. So, we've just decided to continue with the carry-outs as they are. "
The Community Table is still asking for volunteers. If you feel comfortable volunteering - you can find out more info here.
