Eau Claire (WQOW)- Today is Giving Tuesday, and local non-profits continue to look for help from the community.

Organizers of Giving Tuesday declared the day a global day of giving in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, encouraging people to show their generosity by supporting non-profit organizations across the nation.

In the Chippewa Valley, non-profits like The Community Table are struggling to remain open in the midst of the pandemic.

"A lot of us are considered essential services and need to remain open," said TJ Atkins, executive director of The Community Table. "I think the public kind of misses that once in a while. You hear a lot about other essential services but there are a number of non-profits that are essential services that have to operate during this time."

Atkins says The Community Table saw a drastic decrease in donations and funding in March, and it's other non-profit partners are experiencing financial struggles as well.
