Eau Claire (WQOW)- For a local moving company, what started as a challenge to support farmers has turned into a way to give back to the community.

Employees of Dan the Moving Man are hosting a food and milk drive Friday for families in need. The idea was sparked by the 100-gallon milk challenge.

Last week the owner bought 100 gallons of milk to support local farmers, along with other food items to give away to community members. He says roughly 100 families showed up to their first giveaway last week, and all the food and milk was gone in two hours, motivating them to host another this week.

"I feel if we're able to donate, people should donate some way whether it's a dollar or whatever you can try to give back to people," said Tyler Heath, owner of Dan the Moving Man.

Heath started a GoFundMe fundraiser for community members to donate to the cause and says they are prepared to give away 200 pounds of food and milk Friday. The company is accepting both money and food donations for the drive. You can learn more about how to participate here.
