Wisconsin (WQOW) - As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, a record-shattering number of voters are opting to request an absentee ballot to avoid in-person voting. But, how many of those ballots are being returned?
The Wisconsin Elections Commission says more than 1.2 million absentee ballots have been sent to voters. Thus far, more than 539,000 have not been returned.
Locally, Eau Claire County has sent 22,537 ballots to voters, with nearly 60% of the ballots returned. In the city of Eau Claire, 15,000 ballots were sent out and 10,000 were returned.
In Chippewa County, 7,200 ballots have been returned. That is about 61% of the number requested.
In Dunn County, the return rate is 56% while in Barron County it is 57%.
