Eau Claire (WQOW) - Students might not be on campus but there's still a flurry of activity at UW-Eau Claire. Work is underway on the university's new $5.5 million welcome center.
Once complete, it will include presentation rooms for prospective students and offices for admissions, alumni and the UW Eau Claire Foundation.
The center will be funded entirely by the UWEC Foundation meaning no city tax dollars or student fees will be used for construction.
The university hopes to have it open by next summer.
