Altoona (WQOW) - Fierce Freedom, an organization that educates the Chippewa Valley about sex trafficking, is offering to help share knowledge with students in the Altoona School District.

"I think that this is a stark reminder that it does impact even smaller communities, and that is one of the pieces that has always been the myth of everyone. We think we're safe, we think we're good with where we are. This is the reason that we do what we do. We want to make sure that we're educating more and more people to recognize signs, to call and to make reports so that there are less of these stories in the news," said John Pulley with Fierce Freedom.

So, what should you look for?

Pulley said red flags that could mean someone is being trafficked include a change in friend groups or having dramatically different behavior.

Sex trafficking has been located in every county of Wisconsin, so the biggest deterrent is education.

Pulley said that parents have the greatest influence, so talking to children and making them aware of what is going in can have the biggest impact.
