Eau Claire (WQOW) - A new startup hub is opening in downtown Eau Claire to help local entrepreneurs bring big ideas into the marketplace.

Located on South Barstow Street, WiSys VentureHome's goal is to provide entrepreneurs everything their startup needs under one roof.

It's a partnership between WiSys, UW-Eau Claire, and CoLab.

The hub offers a number of free tools including technical assistance, advice on intellectual property and legal strategies, and eligibility for seed funding.

Staff members hope the space will help keep talented people in town.

"By creating the VentureHome, not only are we consolidating under one roof all of the local resources, but we're connecting that in a network of resources throughout the state so an entrepreneur can build their company right here and stay here as their company grows so they don't have to move to a bigger city like Madison or Milwaukee," said Arjun Sanga, president of WiSys Technology Foundation.

Venturehome still has a couple of spots available. Go to venturehome.org to apply.
