It’ll get colder before it gets warmer, but overall it’s been “a mild winter” so far

Temperatures fell below zero Wednesday morning for only the 14th time on this winter. Typically, we see our lows dip below 0 degrees roughly 30 times during the winter months. After Thursday morning, it doesn't look like we'll get back to that threshold anytime soon.

The cold arctic high pressure system will keep highs in the low teens Wednesday and Thursday, but with that cold air it will bring a lot of sunshine.

Wind speeds will be out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph which will keep wind chills around zero Wednesday afternoon. Thursday morning when air temperatures fall 10 to 15 degrees below zero, winds look calm enough to keep wind chills out of the negative 20s.

There is no precipitation in the forecast through the weekend even with the warmer spring temperatures. Highs jump above average
