Wisconsin (WQOW) - Tricia Zunker has overwhelmingly defeated challenger Lawrence Dale to represent the Democratic party in the race for the 7th Congressional District.

The primary was to see which candidate would represent Democrats in the race to replace now-retired Representative Sean Duffy. Duffy said he was stepping away back in the fall of 2019 to spend more time with family.

Zunker is a law professor while Dale is a Vietnam veteran.

Zunker would become the first Native American member of Congress should she win the special election on May 12. She said she wants to be a voice for struggling farmers.
