Eau Claire (WQOW) - Sunday afternoon, hundreds of brides-and-grooms-to-be headed to Eau Claire's Winter Wedding Fair to say "I do" to vendors before their big day.

The event gave couples a look at what local venues, bakers, DJs, florists, photographers and more, had to offer.

Organizers said it can make planning easier by having businesses all in one place.

Event promoter, Lisa Gill, said throughout the day she saw couples work to make their weddings unique.

"We've seen lots of options with cakes versus cupcakes versus cookies versus...we have an ice cream vendor here today," said Gill. "And then as always, the dresses and fashions are changing every year which is really fun to see."

For vendors like Cathi Meyer, the manager at Westgate Sportsman's Club, it's not only a chance to gain some business, but also make connections in the community.

"We run a lot of programs that are youth-based and community-based," said Meyer. "So being out here in the midst of all these - not just brides and grooms - but a lot of people just walking through and seeing what's going on, it's very important to us."

Organizers added that this is a busy time of year for most vendors, with plenty of couples just now starting to plan their weddings after getting engaged during the holidays.
