L.E. Phillips Senior Center meets fundraising goal

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The L.E. Phillips Senior Center is feeling the love.

On Friday, staff announced they have met their $1.1 million fundraising goal.

The redesign will add 14,000 square feet to the building.

The space will include an upgraded fitness center and meeting area.

The fundraising campaign started last fall. The L.E. Phillips Foundation offered to match the $1.1 million if the senior center could raise that by Friday.

Officials say two last-minute donations made the difference.

The next step is finishing up the architectural plans.

Construction may begin as early as the fall.
